A suspended profile disappears from Maps and Search. Reinstatement is possible but slow, and while you wait, competitors take your traffic. Almost every suspension traces back to a handful of avoidable mistakes.
Keyword stuffing the business name
The most common cause by far. Your name field must match your real-world signage. Adding your city or services to it is a violation, no matter how many competitors appear to get away with it.
Fake or incentivised reviews
Buying reviews, having staff post them, or offering discounts in exchange for a review all violate Google's policy. So does review gating: filtering customers so only the happy ones are asked. Google is measurably better at detecting these patterns than it used to be.
Address problems
Using a virtual office or a mailbox as a storefront, or listing an address where you do not actually serve customers, triggers suspensions. Service-area businesses should be set up as service-area businesses rather than faking a location.
Wrong categories
Adding categories you do not belong in to appear in more searches is a violation and it dilutes your relevance anyway.
Restricted-product promotion
If you sell tobacco, vape, alcohol, cannabis or firearms, promoting those products in posts violates content policy. The business is allowed; the product promotion is not. Post about your store, staff, service and community instead.
The reliable path
Accurate name, accurate address, accurate categories, honest reviews asked of everyone, compliant content, and steady activity. It is slower than the shortcuts and it does not put your listing at risk.
